…Did you even know there was one?
Douglas Kruger, a local professional speaker, has represented Africa four times at the Public Speaking World Championships in the United States. It's like the Olympics of Oratory, where the best of the best compete. No one from Africa has ever won this contest, but Douglas placed second, the highest ranking any African competitor has attained in over 60 years.
This Wednesday night, allow Douglas to take you on a highly entertaining and humorous 'behind-the-scenes' tour of the event. He will display video footage of actual World Champion speakers, and describe the terror and euphoria of baring your soul on the international stage.
"It's like dancing naked before three thousand people," he says. But Douglas must enjoy the dance. He has even written a book on Public Speaking, titled '50 Ways to Become a Better Speaker.'
So what does it take to be the best speaker in the world? What kind of doors would that mantel open for you? How do you compete in something so stressful without losing your breakfast?
Find out all of this and more!
